Road construction firm staffer abducted in GH

Tura: A group of unidentified men have abducted an employee of a road construction firm while he was supervising the project work at Malchapara area of Betasing in South West Garo Hills District on Sunday afternoon.
The incident took place at approximately 2:15 pm when the workers of the construction firm, Sri Niwas PM BSCPL Infrastructure Ltd., were engaged in clearing the debris and dust on the expansion work of the Ampati road at Malchapara reserve forest area, 3 km from Betasing village.
Taking advantage of the dust induced scenario, a group of men stopped their car and forcibly pushed in 34 year old Braj Kishore Thakur and took him away.
The victim, a resident of Rajasan village in Bihar, was a helper doing survey work and marking bitumen for the road when he was taken away.
The incident comes at a time when ( the Meghalaya police have been going the extra mile to alert the public about kidnappings and issuing guidelines on vulnerable areas and ways to prevent getting targetted.
It also happened less than a day after a high level meeting on security between district police chiefs with the Additional Director General of Police, Meghalaya, in the Garo Hills.
The district police chief of Ampati could not be contacted as he was on leave.
