Guwahati: The BJP president Amit Shah on Friday launched the party’s Congress hatao (dislodge Congress) campaign in Assam where Assembly election is due early next year, lambasting the ruling Congress for the burning problem of illegal migration from Bangladesh to the state.
He said once the India-Bangladesh Land Boundary Agreement was implemented in totality in the ground, the BJP government in the Centre would fortify the India-Bangladesh border to solve the problem of illegal migration foo good.
“But the Congress which is hoping to retain power riding back of AIUDF will not be able to solve the problem of illegal migration,” the BJP chief said.
Shah on Friday commented “The ILU ILU (I Love U, I Love U) that is going on between ruling Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) led by Badaruddin Ajmal will ensure that problem of illegal migration from Bangladesh remains burning in Assam,”
“If you want a developed Assam and respite from illegal migration from Bangladesh, rampant corruption, misgovernance ,choose the BJP and reject Congress in the next Assembly election.
The BJP is committed to bring the backward state at par with developed western states of the country,” he appealed to the people of Assam.
He addressed a massive rally of party workers in Dibrugarh city of eastern Assam in presence of the party’s organizing secretary Ram Lal, Assam BJP president Sarbananda Sonowal and all other important party leaders in the state.
The BJP president Tarun Gogoi-led Congress government in Assam for failing to effectively utilize the Central fund provided for implementation various schemes in Assam and dared Gogoi to make public the amount of money provided by the Centre to the state during his tenure and how the same has been utilized.
Shah pledged that a BJP government in Assam would be committed to improve the dismal power scenario, grossly inefficient healthcare system, directionless education scenario, alarming unemployment problem and solve the burning problem of infiltration by illegal migrants from Bangladesh.
Referring to appointment of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sarbananda Sonowal as the new president of BJP in Assam, Shah exuded confidence that Sonowal would lead the party to victory in Assembly polls as he had done in last Lok Sabha polls.
