Headmen’s body to hold meeting post Delhi visit

SHILLONG: Currently camping in Delhi, members of Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri U Hynniewtrep (SKNSKBH), an umbrella body of the headmen, will convene a meeting in Shillong after their arrival from the national capital.
The SKNSKBH members among others are in Delhi to apprise the Home Ministry of the row surrounding the Village Administration Bills of the KHADC and the JHADC which are pending the assent of the Governor.
During the meeting, the traditional heads will discuss with the people the feedbacks received during their tour regarding the passage of the Village Administration Bills of the KHADC and the JHADC, SKNSKBH president, W. Kharshiing said. A delegation of the SKNSKBH submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday and also met Satyendra Garg, Joint Secretary Home Ministry in-charge Northeast and Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs.
The traditional heads had set a month’s deadline for the State Government on November 5 to pass the two Village Administration Bills passed by the KHADC and JHADC.
