JOWAI: Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) Chairman Laitsing Shylla on Monday said Governor V. Shanmuganathan will give his assent to the Village Administration Bills of both the JHADC and the KHADC either as a Christmas gift or a New Year gift.
“On December 3, I along with JHADC officers and JHADC adviser B.G. Ladia in the presence of the Commissioner Secretary M.S. Rout and retired Ambassador, India Foreign Service, Rever Wahlang, met the Governor  and held a two hour meeting,” Shylla informed.
According to Shylla, the meeting thoroughly discussed the pending VAB issue and the Governor assured them that he would give his assent to both the bills either this month or next month.
Shylla lauded the Governor’s initiatives and at the same time urged the Governor to help the JHADC and KHADC with regard to problems faced by traditional institutions including the local Durbars, Elaka and Himas Sirdarship and others who have been affected by the order of the High Court of Meghalaya which has barred the traditional heads from performing their duties for the benefit of the communities.
