One way rule lifted
Consequent upon the closure of most schools in Laitumkhrah and surrounding areas due to winter vacation, the Shillong Traffic department has temporarily lifted the one way rule imposed through Dhankheti during the morning school hours.
Inauguration of juvenile home
Justice Uma Nath Singh, Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya will inaugurate the juvenile home at Mawdiangdiang on December 12 at 11:30 AM in the presence of Justice T.N.K. Singh and Justice S.R. Sen. The programme is being organised by the High Court of Meghalaya in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Meghalaya.
Notice to contractors
The Executive Engineer PWD (Roads), South Jowai Division, Jowai has informed all concerned contractors under South Jowai, that their security deposits which are lying outstanding in the Deposit Register for more than three years will be forfeited to government Revenue if not claimed within January 7, 2016.
Condolence meeting
As a mark of respect to Dr. B.D. Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor, NEHU, who passed away on December 6, a condolence meeting was held on December 8 at the conference room of the administrative building, NEHU.
Seminar cum training on GST
The Institute of Cost Accountant of India in collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Meghalaya, conducted a seminar cum training on GST at MATI, Shillong for officials of the Taxation department. The seminar was attended by D. L. Wankhar, Secretary, ERTS department, Abhishek Bhagotia, Commissioner of Taxes and B. Mukhopadhyay, Vice-Chairman, The Institute of Cost Accountant of India, besides other officials.
Programme
Bansara Eye Care Centre in collaboration with Operation Eyesight Universal will organise a programme at Mawlai Umjaiur to declare the village as ‘Avoidable Blindness Free Village’ on December 9 from 8:30 AM.
Cleaning drive
The Dorbar Shnong Lawmali Pyllun will organize a cleaning drive on December 15 from 8 AM till 1 PM. During the cleaning drive vehicles plying through the locality are requested to drive slowly in order to avoid any untoward incident.
Unclaimed body
An unidentified male (22 years) who was admitted in Shillong Civil Hospital on November 28 had passed away on December 2. Relatives are asked to collect the body from the morgue of the Civil Hospital immediately or within December 10 failing which the body will be send for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.
Panel discussion
Student Christian Movement will organize a one day panel discussion on ‘Violation of Human Rights in Meghalaya’ on December 10 at AEC Building Smit (Wahiingsyiem) from 12:30 PM.
Red Cross training camp
Students of Government Upper Primary School, Mawlai, will represent the State in the Inter-state Junior Red Cross Training Camp in Kurukshetra, Haryana, from December 11-17. The team consists of six boys and six girls and one male and female councilor each.
Silver jubilee
The Silver Jubilee celebration of the Seng Kur Ki Khun ka Khmah Lyngdoh Mawphlang will be held on December 12 at 11 AM at Madan Lyngktop, Mawphlang.
