Garo Hills: 39 militants killed in CI ops this year

SHILLONG: There is a rapid deterioration of law and order situation in Garo Hills. Police statistics reveal that 39 militants have been killed in counter insurgency operations in Meghalaya in the last eight months.
The statistics also show that from January 1, 2015 to December 8, 2015 there were 301incidents in total out of which 218 militants were arrested in counter insurgency operations.
Again, 54 militants surrendered this year while 39 were killed.
In addition, police also recovered 78 arms and 837 ammunitions including crude bombs, detonators, gelatin and IEC among others.
As per police statistics, there were eight incidents involving HNLC where nine were arrested while three surrendered.
GNLA’s involvement was seen in 93 crimes where 62 were arrested while 26 surrendered and 11 were killed
NDFB was also involved in 2 incidents leading to the arrest of 5 militants while ULFA was involved in 2 episodes where 3 were arrested while 1 was killed.
LAEF’s involvement was witnessed in 8 occurrences where 8 of them were arrested, 4 surrendered and 1 was killed, as per statistics.
Again, 3 militants from ASAK were killed, 18 arrested and 5 surrendered due to their presence in 20 cases.
AMEF was seen to be involved in 34 cases causing to the arrest of and 36 while 8 surrendered and 11got killed.
The statistics also reveal the presence of groups and dacoits who relegated from the militant groups and affected 114 incidents causing the arrest of 45 militants while 1 surrendered and 12 got killed.
In addition, police also busted 7 militant camps this year including two AMEF camps.
