NF Rly realizes Rs 21 crore from ticket-less travellers

Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway has realized about Rs 21 crore so far this financial year from ticketless travelers and passengers travelling with un-booked luggage.
Total 3,45, 427 such cases were detected by the railway during a special drive conducted against ticketless travellers in Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, Alipurduar and Katihar divisions under N.F.Railway, the CPRO of the Railway here informed.To discourage ticketless travelling, Northeast Frontier Railway has put systems in place whereby surprise ticket checking drive is conducted by flying squads. Fortress checks are also conducted in stations.
For this officers are nominated at zonal and divisional levels from different department who are accompanied by security personal from Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police.
During the current financial year till the month of November 2015 an amount of Rs. 20,99,89,000 was realised as fine.On 9th December, 2015 a massive ticket checking drive in Guwahati and Kamakhya stations by officials of Lumding division which led to detection of 375 cases of ticketless travelling and recovery of Rs. 1,76,873 towards fare and penalty.
General Manager, N F Railway M Jamshed has instructed all to keep up the momentum of such drive so that ticketless travelling is discouraged and bonafide travellers can have a smooth journey.
