Catholic Youth convention
The 25th Annual Youth Convention of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) will be held in Tura from January 14 to 17. The decision to hold the convention was taken in a meeting held on Saturday at the Tura Cathedral Parish Hall.  As many as 45 delegates from 43 parishes in Garo Hills will participate in the convention. The main purpose of holding the convention is to teach Catholic youths the true meaning of religion
Blankets distributed
Ahead of the Christmas celebrations, Mawlai MDC P.T. Sawkmie distributed 100 blankets to residents of Umphrew. Sawkmie said that it was his duty as a representative of the people to serve them. Umphrew village falls under Mawlai constituency.
Intl Human Rights Day
The District Multi-Purpose Socio Economic Development Organization in collaboration with Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) and Action Aid Association (AAA) observed World Human Rights Day recently. East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Cyril Darlong Diengdoh was the chief guest on the occasion. The observation was held to commemorate and honour the adoption of Universal Declaration of Human Rights with an aim to build peace and harmony.
