‘State Govt determined to crush militancy’

SHILLONG: Home Minister Roshan Warjri on Sunday asserted that the State government was determined to crush militants who were trying to destabilize the efforts of the government and the citizens to ensure normalcy in Garo Hills.
While condemning  the cold blooded murder of Havildar Khomraj Bhattarai by GNLA militants, Warjri said, “This criminal act by the militant groups have only strengthened the resolve of the government in its efforts to crush these attempts at destabilizing peace and normalcy in the region.”
In the statement issued to the media on Sunday, the home minister also reiterated the government’s commitment to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to justice.
“Such acts of cowardice only aims at destabilizing the joint efforts of the government and the citizens at large in working together in restoring peace and security and in building the confidence of the people,” Warjri said.
She also extended her condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
“In this hour of loss and grief I share in their sorrow and pray that God will grant eternal rest to the noble departed soul,” Warjri said, while assuring all support due to the bereaved family from the government.
