Tura gears up for Winter youth festival

SHILLONG: Winter Festival in Tura shall be a youth centric fixture this year on December  17 and 18  in Dikki Bandi Stadium , Tura with host of exciting competitions , discreet messages  to preserve, protect and conserve the environment and colourful cultural extravaganza.
The theme of this year’s winter festival is the message to the youth around whom the festival is planned and oriented  which is “Think Global & Act Local !”. It is a clarion call to the youth to connect to the world by use of internet and tools of learning and entertainment, networking and e-marketing with You Tube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and other Apps but also not forget their local customs, folklore, cuisine and  dances which are integral to their existence.
It shall thus provide ample opportunities and opening to the youth  to display their creative side with dance and music , karaoke and cultural extravaganza.
The  Festival shall attempt to reach out and connect to the youth especially the children.  The fest shall be display of private and government stalls showcasing the efforts and achievements of the state government in many of the flagship programmes like Swachh Bharat Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Integrated Basin Development & Livelihood Promotion Programme and other schemes. Festival’s main attraction shall be hugely successful Battle Rock – VII which shall be the 7th edition of the popular franchise where the best bands of the region compete with one another for top musical honours .
Two-day Tasek Festival at Tasek Lake
East Garo Hills district administration in collaboration with the Tasek Tourism Development Committee supported by the District Art & Culture Society, IBDLP and the Chief Minister’s Youth for Green Campaign will organise a two-day Tasek Festival with the theme “Water for Life” at Tasek Lake under Songsak C & RD Block on 16, 17 of this month with a view to create awareness and also to bring in possible convergence for developing  the aquatic diversity and others.
