TURA: The muster roll workers of the PHE Department in Garo Hills have once again threatened to resort to cease work if their pending wages are not released by December 16.
The workers have been facing innumerable problems in maintaining their families like healthcare, children’s education and other basic necessities due to non-payment of their dues since June this year.
Earlier, the M/R workers had called off its proposed indefinite cease work scheduled to begin from October 10 after they were assured by concerned authorities that their pending dues would be released within the first week of December.
However, with authorities failing to fulfil its assurance even by the beginning of the third week the workers have announced another round of cease work to begin from December 17 indefinitely if there is no positive response.
The workers have also expressed regret over the inconvenience to be caused to the people of Garo Hills and appealed to civil societies, Church leaders and NGOs to kindly cooperate in their genuine and legitimate demand.
