Guwahati: Three persons including two Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel were injured in attack by a leopard that strayed into the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) headquarter at Maligaon here on Friday morning.
The leopard was first sighted at around 7 a.m. on Friday in the area by local people. It was seen moving inside the premises of the State Bank of India branch near the NFR headquarter. The leopard then moved into the campus of NFR headquarter and strayed into the building where the control room of the NFR is located.
The leopard was then locked inside a toilet in the railway building as forest personnel were called in to tranquilize the beast, a railway official N Bhattacharjya informed. The forest caged the animal after tranqulising it. Panic has gripped employees in the railway headquarter with a big-size leopard remaining confined within the premises. The railway headquarter here is located in an area where it is usual to sight leopards roaming around every winter.
