SHILLONG: A conglomeration of NGOs from Garo Hills met Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Sarbananda Sonowal to apprise him of the need to come up with an “entrepreneurship college in Garo Hills”.
The NGOs–GSU, FKJGP, FAF, AYWO and ADE– submitted a memorandum to Sonowal stating that conducive environment for engaging in entrepreneurial activities is lacking in the region. “Garo Hills lacks in organising different types of training programmes, research and other activities aimed at capacity building and enterprise creation. It needs an alternative route to development and growth and an entrepreneurship college for promoting and developing entrepreneurs,” the memorandum said.
The NGOs further said that there is a need for a Post Graduate Diploma course in Management- Development Studies (PGDM-DS) to equip students with knowledge, analytical and conceptual skills of social and economic development.
