SHILLONG: In a tragic incident, a six-year-old boy lost his life when fire broke out in his house at Mawlai Phudmawrie at around 7:30 PM on Tuesday.
At the time of the incident, the mother Lismita Lyngdoh Lyngkhoi was attending to her sister at the hospital while the father was engaged in his daily labour work.
Sources said Lyngdoh’s three children who were alone in the house lighted a candle when the light went out and later the flame from the candle engulfed some clothes leading to the disaster.
Neighbors on hearing the screams rushed to the spot and forcefully knocked down the door but were able to save only two of the elder children while the six-year-old died inside the house.
