Cattle, truck seized on border
The BSF seized 13 cattle along with a truck at Muktapur in West Jaintia Hills District while being smuggled into Bangladesh from India. The total worth of the seized items is estimated to be more than Rs.22 lakh.
Blindness free villages
Bansara Eye Care Centre along with Meghalaya Blindness Control Society declared eight villages – Majai, Dhoram Basti, Chakla Basti, Naya Basti, Umdud, Khahumrin, Ichamati and Umtaroo under Shella-Bholaganj Block as ‘Avoidable Blindness Free Villages’ at a function held recently.
Festive greetings
Meghalaya Newspapers Hawker & Vendor Association has greeted all newspaper subscribers, Govt. establishments, educational institutions, public and private sectors business establishments, NGOs, publishers and editorial boards of different newspapers a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Silver jubilee
The Hynniewtrep NERIST Association, a student body organization from NERIST, Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh, will be celebrating its silver jubilee cum alumni meet on December 30 at Hotel Polo Towers. Alumni from NERIST are invited to the meet.
Participation
Goju Ryu Karate-Do Association of Meghalaya, Shillong, Chief Coach K. Niren Singh is going to participate in the 7th International Goju Ryu Karate Championship, 2015 from December 25-26 at Kolkata.
Cleaning drive
A locality cleaning drive was organised by the A’siljong Development Committee, Tura, recently in which residents of the locality took part. The cleaning drive organised with support from the Swachh Bharat Mission covered the Gandrak Stream, Chandmari Playground and the main road of Chandmari in Tura.
Order
The District Magistrate, South West Khasi Hills, has restricted overloaded trucks carrying more than nine tonnes of load from plying over Bridge No. 29/6 on Laitmawsiang-Mawthawpdah Road, Jashiar.
