KSU demands compensation for WKH land owners

NONGSTOIN: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Nongstoin circle called on West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday to demand the immediate payment of compensation to land owners from Siejlieh and Rwiang areas whose land have been acquired for the Shillong-Tura road project.
KSU leader Davis goldfield Wanniang said that non-payment of compensation has brought about miseries to the land owners who are scared that they might have to part ways with their land without getting any benefits in return.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner S Kharlyngdoh informed that “all paper works lay pending owing to the Centre’s take on Land Acquisition Bill 2015”.
