SHILLONG: While the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has given conditional support to the development of Railways in the state, the breakaway faction, Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), has asserted that it would continue to oppose rail projects.
KSU, which has been vehemently opposing the idea of bringing railway line to Meghalaya, recently stated that it would not oppose the ongoing rail projects provided that the issue of influx is addressed by the Government.
The HYC, meanwhile, continues to remain concerned over any such move and maintained that introduction of railways will add to the influx problem.
Without directly naming the KSU, HYC organizing secretary, Nickson Dohling said that it was surprising to see organizations opposing the Railways all the while now taking a different stand on it.
