Cattle smugglers nabbed in State, animals seized

SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills police recently seized nine cattle and a vehicle being used for their transportation from Wah Umlein near Tangmang village in the district.
SP City Vivek Syiem informed that on January 9 during normal checking of vehicles, one mini truck (ML-05-J-2654) broke through the Police Naka in a bid to escape.
Police however chased the vehicle and found it abandoned at Wah Umlein near Tangmang village and recovered nine cattle from the truck.
The driver identified as Wanhunlang Kharbudon of Siatbakon, Pynursla, managed to flee initially but was nabbed later. The seized cattle were handed over to the Customs department.
Two B’ deshi cattle smugglers held
BSF troops deployed at Gumaghat, South West Khasi Hills District, on Sunday nabbed two Bangladeshi cattle smugglers with four cattle on the international border while being smuggled from India to Bangladesh on January 10. They were identified as Anwar Hussian (24) and Md Suhag Miya (24), both residents of Lorigarh village in Sunamganj district of Bangladesh.
BSF troops recovered two mobile phones, two Bangladeshi SIMs, two memory card and Bangladeshi Taka 400 from their possession.
