SHILLONG: National People’s Party (NPP) has decided to put pressure on the State Government seeking early approval of Conrad Sangma’s name as a nominated member of GHADC.
Expressing concern over the delay on the part of the state government to approve the name of Conrad as a nominated MDC even after two months, NPP spokesman James Sangma on Tuesday said, “This government is deliberately taking time to take a simple decision”. A high-level delegation of Garo MDCs representing the NPP-led Garo Hills Progressive Alliance of GHADC called on Meghalaya Governor V. Shanmuganathan on Friday to register a protest against the Mukul Sangma led state government for its alleged delaying tactics in clearing the name of Conrad and also the name of Rochonpara NPP MDC Dipul R Marak for the post of executive member.
When contacted, an official said that so far the Governor has not yet approved Conrad’s name as a nominated MDC.
The government’s proposal to nominate Irene Lyngdoh is also lying in Raj Bhavan, he added.
