Rape of minors continues unabated in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: There is no respite in cases of rape of minors in the State with three minors being reportedly raped in the State in the past few days.
In the first instance, police arrested one Gentlyness Paslein for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl at Mootyrchiah village in West Jaintia Hills on Monday afternoon.
Earlier on January 9, one K. Kyndait allegedly raped a four-year-old girl at Kremmyrsiang village in West Jaintia Hills.
Police said the accused was nabbed on Tuesday evening.
In another case, the FKJGP Mawsynram Circle has informed of the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl at Terajamra, a neighbouring village of Balat, falling under Dangar Police Outpost, Mawsynram C&RD Block.
As per report, the victim disclosed that she was raped by one Balseng R. Marak on December 31.
She informed the FKJGP members that Marak had committed the crime while she was on her way home from church and had even threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
However, she took the courage to tell her parents following which they filed an FIR at Dangar PS and appealed for justice.
