SHILLONG: In a shocking incident a 70 year old woman was allegedly murdered in a forest in Mawshubuit in East Khasi Hills district.
Police said the body of the woman, who has since been identified as Binolin Kharkongor, was recovered from the forest on Wednesday night.
According to police, the woman was hacked to death with her own machete when she had gone to the forest to collect firewood. The body also bore injuries on the head.
Police was waiting for the post-mortem report and further investigation was on.
