SHILLONG: Red tape has delayed the proposal of the Health department to have a round the clock pharmacy and canteen inside Civil Hospital, Shillong.
Sources said that the proposal has been pending for almost a year with the Planning department.
“The Planning department should have immediately cleared the proposal since it’s a matter of life and death for the people,” sources said. Since there is no 24×7 medical dispensary facility in the city, patients admitted in the Civil Hospital and elsewhere face hardships.  The situation gets even more critical when it comes to emergency cases.
When the matter was pointed out, Health Minister AL Hek told reporters that a proposal has already been sent to the Planning department for setting up of both 24×7 pharmacy and a canteen inside the Civil Hospital. “We are awaiting the clearance of the proposal,” Hek added.
