SHILLONG: The Urban Affairs  department is  targetting to complete the construction of around  400  units in the Nongmynsong  housing project within this month.
Sources informed that   out of  total 600  units,   around 100 units, which  were inaugurated long time back, had been handed over to beneficiaries.
Initially,  Hindustan Prefab Limited (HPL) was  assigned the work of   implementing the   project but later the firm abandoned the project.
After the termination of the contract with the HPL, Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) was given the responsibility of completing the construction of the abandoned housing project under JNNURM in Nongmynsong on its own.
