TURA: Three NGOs from Dadenggre region namely, the FKJGP, ADE and AYWO have expressed displeasure over the manner the construction of a local road is being under taken under the PMGSY Scheme.
The road in question is the Dokramagre Road in Dadenggre area whose construction was allotted to one, L M Sangma, a contractor from Upper Wadanang in Tura.
According to the NGOs, the construction of the said road is to be completed by May 14 this year, however, going by the slow progress it is unlikely to be completed in time as even the beginning process of laying sand and gravel has not been started.
Barring the construction of two culverts along the road, which have also already caved in, there has not been any sign of work being done on the road as per the claims of the NGOs.
“Although, the time given for completion is nearing, the contractor has not shown any urgency to finish the work.”
” If he fails to complete the work in the allotted time, his name should be cancelled from the contractors’ registration list,” the President of ADE, Jengga Marak said.
