SHILLONG: with a view to meet the developmental needs of the local people and to come into convergence with various government plans and activities, the Multi Facility Centre under the Inter State Border Areas Development Programme (ISBADP) was inaugurated by Minister of Sports and Youths Affairs, Zenith M. Sangma at Rajasimla village under Kharkutta C&RD Block on January 27. The programme was organized by the Block Development Officer, Kharkutta C&RD Block, North Garo Hills.
Speaking on the occasion, Zenith Sangma said that the aim of the project is to address the socio economic problem faced by the people of the area by encouraging local commercial activities which would enhance the livelihood and provide various benefits to the villagers. This kind of project would boost the economy, productivity, entrepreneurship of the state and improve the social condition of the people.
The multi-facility centre under the ISBADP was constructed at the amount of Rs 31 lacs financed from the special assistance programme of the Border Areas Development Project.
Later in the day, Sangma also inaugurated the 100 Drums Wangala Megaru Festival organised by the Kharkutta Cultural Committee and sponsored by C.W. Momin, Parliament Secretary PWD, at Kharkutta Mini Stadium Playground.Other members present at the event were C.W.Momin, MLA Kharkutta, S.C.Sadhu, Deputy Commissioner, D.D Sangma, ADC, R.Kumar, SP, Y.D.Bhutia, SDPO, L. Daring, BDO C&RD Resubelpara and R.D.Shira, BDO C&RD Kharkutta Block, North Garo Hills among others.
