TURA: The ongoing tussle within the Janapriya Higher Secondary School in Bholarbhita is yet to die down with a section of the people from the area led by local MDC of Shyamnagar, S G Esmatur Mominin voicing their opposition against further extension of the current Adhoc school managing committee.
The local MDC recently met the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) and submitted a public complaint urging the official not to extend the committee headed by Sader Hossain which was formed solely for the purpose of constituting a full-fledged managing committee. According to the MDC, assurance has also been given that there would be no further extension of the current Adhoc committee.
According to the claims of the people Hossain, who is at the centre of the controversy had postponed several general meetings organized for constituting a full-fledged SMC in order to hold on to the post for his own vested interests.
Earlier on January 12, Hossain had raked up a controversy by alleging that the school principal was collecting fees illegally from the students including those of Class VI-VIII which has been exempted by the Government to ease the burden of parents.
Surprisingly, contradicting his claims a week later on January 20, he had issued specific instructions for the collection of fees including those from students of class VI-VIII a copy of which has been given to the Shillong Times.
Meanwhile, a writ petition has also been filed in the Meghalaya High Court over the whole matter which is currently under hearing.
