MHIS Phase II launched

SHILLONG: Health minister AL Hek on Friday officially launched the implementation of the flagship programme, MHIS II for the people of the State during an inaugural ceremony held at NEIGRIHMS.
The function was attended by Director, NEIGRIHMS, Prof. A.G. Ahangar, Dean, Prof. V. Rapheal, Deputy Director, D.T Umdor, Special Guest for the occasion Dr. V. Chadha, Director, National Tuberculosis Institute (NTI) Bangalore besides a host of other dignitaries.
Director AG Ahangar  desired that all the healthcare providers to act as ‘Information Disseminators’ regarding MHIS to all the needy patients so that “Super Specialty and Specialty services” currently provided by NEIGRIHMS can be availed by as many patients as possible.
The Director also urged the staff and beneficiaries from the Institute to carry forward the right message and the mission of the tertiary care Institution rather than misleading disinformation campaign against the NEIGRIHMS launched by source agencies with their “vested interests”.
Health Minister Hek praised NEIGRIHMS for extending its specialized services and quality care especially to the poor people who cannot afford to avail such services outside the State.
During his interaction with the patients waiting for treatment he also informed that” expenses borne by the patient for medicines etc., apart from the cashless treatment received shall be reimbursed through the scheme”.
The Minister also inaugurated the two days first ever “North East Zonal Workshop on Operational Research” under Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) Govt. of India organized by the Zonal Task Force Committee with Prof. A.C Phukan, Medical Superintendent & HOD, Microbiology NEIGRIHMS being the Chairman and Dr. T.I Rangad, State Tuberculosis Officer, Meghalaya the Member Secretary.
