SHILLONG: Jhankar, the leading Assamese cultural organization of Stoneyland, Dhankheti, has mourned the demise of its Chief Advisor, Balen Hazarika, a resident of Stoneyland,Dhankheti, Shillong.
Balen, who passed away on February 6 at International Hospital, Guwahati was the brother of late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, the legendary singer of Assam. Jhankar prayed for the eternal rest of the departed soul.
Meanwhile, Assam Club of Laban also prayed for the eternal peace of Hazarika in a condolence meeting held on Sunday at the club premises. The meeting also condoled the death of Nilima Kakoti, a former member of the club who passed away recently.
