SHILLONG: The State government is contemplating to institute fifth Pay commission to increase the salary and other allowances of the government employees.
“There is a thinking on the part of the state government to increase the salary of the staff after the recommendation of the seventh central pay commission,” an official source said on Monday.
It was in September 2009 that the state cabinet had announced an overall pay hike of 32 per cent for all its employees, with retrospective effect from January 1, 2007 following the recommendation of the 4th Pay Commission.
As per norm, every ten years, a new pay commission is instituted by the government.
