SHILLONG: Leaders of the United Democratic Party (UDP) on Friday refuted claims of scuffle within the party for the role of party president and added that the UDP has never held any election for the post of party president since the task of electing the party president is assigned to the party’s nomination committee.
Sources from the party said that electing the president is the responsibility of the party and added that so far discussions have been held on holding election to appoint a new general secretary since the party feels that the general secretary of the party must be of the rank of an MLA or MDC.
The party sources also asserted that there has been no complaint against Donkupar Roy in his ten years of service as the party president.
It is understood that the UDP is contemplating to remove general secretary Allan Dkhar from the post and appoint party legislator Jemino Mawthoh in his place.
