SHILLONG: The opposition will be forcing the State government to table the Mookhep police firing report and the GHADC scam inquiry report in the upcoming Budget session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly scheduled to begin from March 4.
NPP spokesperson James Sangma said the opposition will raise the issues in the upcoming session and added that the issues will also feature in the meeting of the Meghalaya Progressive Alliance scheduled to be held before the Assembly session.
The alleged dilly-dally on the part of the State government has deprived people from knowing the outcome of the two probes – one related to the judicial inquiry into the GHADC scam and another on the Mookhep police firing incident on September 24, 2014.
While the affected people are eagerly waiting for the outcome of the Mookhep probe report for more than a year, it was more than three years ago (December 29, 2012) that the judicial inquiry commission headed by Justice (retd) P.G. Agarwal had submitted its report to the government after probing the alleged financial irregularities and illegal appointments in the GHADC.
Though an amount of over Rs 23 lakh was spent on the upkeep of the judicial inquiry commission, the probe report is yet to see the light of the day.
