SHILLONG: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has asked the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi, to present the case of one person taking payment for three plots of land acquired for the construction of the Shillong Airport at Umroi before the High Court of Meghalaya.
PAC member Paul Lyngdoh on Saturday informed that the Committee has ordered to halt the construction work on the three plots for which the same person has claimed and received compensation whereas the rightful owners have been left empty handed.
When contacted, official sources said construction work was going on as per the directive of the High Court of Meghalaya. The sources also informed that construction work for the boundary work was in progress and that they had not received any written order contrary to the effect.
