SHILLONG: The second installation ceremony of the board of members of Junior Chamber International Shillong Pine City was held on Saturday at Hotel Poinisuk, Laitumukrah in which JC Harsh Jhunjhunwala was elected as president for the year 2016.
The chief guest of the function was Sanjay Goyal, secretary (finance) and managing director MCCL.
The guest of honour at the Function was Mansih Khatuwala, zone president; zone XXV of the Organization Junior Chamber International.
Goyal informed that in this organization the office bearers cannot be above 40 years of age which speaks volumes about the organization.
He praised the work of the outgoing president JC Amit Agarwal and said that though the organization was very young, it was working very well to help the community.
Khatuwala briefed the audience about the various JCI works done by its various chapters.
In his speech he praised the Shillong Chapter as the chapter of leaders. He also congratulated the Shillong team for formation of another prospective chapter. The members of the new chapter where also present during the installation ceremony.
Earlier in the day the outgoing president gave his report and felicitated his team members. JC Sagar Gupta was awarded the best JC Award for the year 2015.
While addressing the gathering the incoming president, JC Harsh Jhunjhunwala laid out an 11 point programme to be executed in his tenure.
These included Beti Bachao Beti Padhao under the club’s flagship program Helping Hands, planting of 2016 saplings on environment day, training at least 100 tribal and BPL family youths to make them self reliant by imparting training programs for them.
Also present at the occasion were the first lady of JCI Zone XXV Rashmi Khatuwala , past district governor of Lions Club K.K Jhunjhunwala, past presidents of Lions Club of Shillong, Deepak Gupta and senior member of Rotary Club of Shillong Pradeep Pillai, senior executive of Forever Living Raju Sing and team and many others.
