Dr. B.R. Seminar
A two day national seminar on ‘Intellectual Traditions of Northeast: Its Influences and Impact’ is being organised at EFLU campus, Umshing, Mawkynroh, Shillong, on February 20-21. Governor V. Shanmuganathan will attend as chief guest.
Book release
A book release function and screening of the film ‘Discovery of Rhododendron Forest – Where Highest Rhododendron Grows’ will be held on the NEC premises, Shillong, on February 22 at 4:30 PM. Governor V. Shanmuganathan will attend as chief guest.
No Entry
In view of opening of all schools in Mawlai and surrounding areas, the No Entry for trucks from Mawlai Nonglum to FCI has been re-imposed from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM and from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. No heavy vehicles will be allowed to ply through this road during these hours for the safety of the school going children.
AIR broadcast
All India Radio, Tura has informed that it will broadcast an interview with Sr. Guadalupe on her contribution to eradication of leprosy on February 21 at 11:05 AM. The broadcast can be heard on MW 243.31 metres corresponding to 1233 KHZ.
Logs seized
BSF troops deployed at Maheshkhola, South Garo Hills, have seized 271.9 cu.ft wooden logs worth Rs 3.26 lakh while being smuggled to Bangladesh from India.
