New Chief Justice assumes charge

SHILLONG: Justice Dinesh Maheshwari was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of High Court of Meghalaya on Wednesday. Governor V Shangmuganathan administered the oath of office to the new Chief Justice at Raj Bhavan.Justice Maheshwari, who hails from Rajasthan, has succeeded Justice Uma Nath Singh who demitted office on January 14  last. Born on  May 15, 1958,  Justice  Maheshwari graduated in Law from Jodhpur University in 1980.He was enrolled as an Advocate on March 8, 1981 and was elevated as a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court on September 2, 2004 Later, he was transferred to Allahabad High Court as a senior judge at the Lucknow Bench of the High Court on July 19, 2014.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma,  his cabiner colleagues, Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly AT Mondal, Justice S.R.Sen of High Court of Meghalaya   and   some senior officials were present on the occasion.
