SHILLONG: The budget session of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will begin on Friday. The session will conclude on March 4.
The budget session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, meanwhile, will also begin on March 4.
When asked whether the last day of the KHADC budget session will clash with the opening day of the Assembly budget session, KHADC CEM PN Syiem said, “There is no harm as the budget session of the KHADC ends on March 4.”
However, Syiem is likely to miss the Governor’s address on March 4 if he attends the last day of KHADC budget session the same day.
Important motions relating to Meghalaya Urban Affairs Development (MUDA), the State Government’s amendment of the Meghalaya Services (Conduct) Rules as well as the non allocation of funds from the 14th Finance Commission will be discussed during the session.
Some of the Bills to be tabled include the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Constitution of Council of Traditional Dorbar Bill), 2016 and Khasi Hills Autonomous Conservation and Promotion of Khasi Social customs and Tradition Bill, 2016.
