Ad hoc college teachers seek fourth pay commission benefits

SHILLONG: The members of the faculty of seven ad hoc colleges in Meghalaya under the banner of Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association on Wednesday have demanded extension of the recommendations of the Fourth Pay Commission to them.
According to the ad hoc college staff, the State Government had extended the recommendations of the Third Pay Commission in 1997 to the teachers of ad hoc colleges without any discrimination, but not the benefits of Fourth Pay Commission.
Stating that they are like the faculty in the deficit and state colleges, the teachers of ad hoc colleges questioned the denial of their entitlements and the discriminatory attitude of the State Government by way of denial of extension of benefits under Fourth Pay Commission.
The aggrieved teachers expressed apprehension that, with the proposed implementation of the Fifth Pay Commission, the government may skip paying the arrears of the Fourth Pay Commission to them.
