KHADC to recall two crucial Bills

SHILLONG:  The KHADC has decided to recall of Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Nomination and Election of the Syiem, Deputy Syiem, Myntri, Basan and Rangbah Shnong of Bhowal Syiemship) (First Amendment) Bill, 2014 and the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Appointment and Succession of the Sirdar and Headmen of Jyrngam Sirdarship) (Second Amendment) Bill.
Moving a resolution in this connection on the third day of the ongoing Budget session of the Council on Wednesday, the KHADC chief PN Syiem said, “The House has decided to recall the Bills for further examination, we are allowing the stakeholders to give their views on the matter”.
He further stated that Hima Jyrngam and Hima Bhowal were not satisfied as they were not consulted before sending the Bills to the concerned authority.
It may be recalled that the Council had on July 1, 2014  passed the two Bills and forwarded to the Governor of Meghalaya for his assent.
