SHILLONG: Continuing his fight for the implementation of Meghalaya Compulsory Registration of Marriage Bill, Maitshaphrang Movement convener, Michael Syiem will hold a sit-in demonstration “all alone” in front of the Secretariat on Friday.
Addressing media persons here on Thursday, Syiem said, “The Deputy Commissioner has denied permission to stage hunger strike at Additional Secretariat parking lot. Permission was also not granted to hold the same at Students’ Field, Madan Heh or Malki.”
On going it alone, Syiem said that he did not want his supporters to be booked under law, section 188 of CrPC to be precise.
“If the Government delays (in taking decision) then I shall seek public support,” Syiem added.
He observed that the Meghalaya Succession to Self Acquired Property (Khasi and Jaintia Special Provision) Act, 1984 was also linked with the Marriage Bill.
