SHILLONG: Opposition leader Donkupar Roy on Wednesday asked the State government to identify the sources of financing and funding to the militants in the State especially in Garo Hills to contain militancy even as he advocated unconditional talks with the militant outfits in the State. He also wanted the State government to adopt ways and means to adopt better way of intelligence gathering. The Opposition Leader also added that since the militants are taking shelter in Bangladesh, the State government should depute people in that country to track the activities of militants there. “There is also a need to stop new recruitments to various militant groups with the support of all sections of people,” he added.Roy further suggested that the government should recruit more youths from the militancy infested areas to the police force to neutralize militancy.
