Wangala performance draws World Culture Festival to a close

NEW DELHI: The World Culture Festival, billed as the largest celebration of cultural and spiritual integration, came to an end on Sunday with a thunderous Wangala dance performance by artistes from Meghalaya.
The World Cultural Festival was a musical and cultural ode to the spirit of humanity, teamwork and diverse traditions that bind citizens of the world into a ‘One World Family’- Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, an official statement from the organizers said.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the man behind the show thanked all those who attended the festival and made it a resounding success.
“To all of you who have come from nearby and faraway destinations, from different faiths and nationalities, a heartfelt thank you. It’s your faith, love and compassion that have enabled the teams at Art of Living to present the biggest and the happiest family get-together – The World Culture Festival,” he said.
Besides Wangala dance there were many other performances from Northeast including a colourful Bihu dance on the last day. Altogether, 25 artistes from Meghalaya had arrived for the Wangala dance in the festival.
One of the highlights of the day was ‘Cosmic Rhythm’, where over 4600 artistes performed 30 dance forms, followed by a soulful rendition of Rabindra Sangeet by 1000 singers.
Leaders present on the concluding day of the big event included Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandra Babu Naidu, senior BJP leader, Lal Krishna Advani, Lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan and BJP president, Amit Shah.
The international dignitaries who participated in the ceremony included Biren Sikder, State Minister for Youth & Sports of Bangladesh.
