Forestry Day
The NCC Unit of Synod College in collaboration with 2nd Meghalaya Bn NCC Shillong celebrated World Forestry Day by organising a rally where 50 boys cadet and 45 girls cadet of the college participated along with the officer in charge of the NCC Synod College and the Army Staff of the 2nd Meghalaya Bn NCC Infantry unit.
Sparrow Day
Aiming to raise awareness about the house sparrow and other birds and threats to their population, the office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Khasi Hills Wildlife Division, Shillong, organized a bird watching at Ward’s Lake and its adjoining areas followed by a Quiz competition at Lady Hydari Park on March 18.
Training
The Punjab National Bank Rural Self Employment Training Institute, East Khasi Hills in collaboration with the Office of the Mylliem C&RD Block, organised six-day training for 31 trainees on piggery farming from March 14-21. The programme was part of the livelihood project activity under the MGNREGA Scheme already being implemented by the Mylliem C&RD Block.
Invitation
The Malki Sports Club has invited all players, both past and present, to attend the inaugural ceremony of the Centenary Jubilee Year of the club on March 23 at Malki Ground at 5 PM.
Holi festivities
Bihari Welfare Association is organising ‘Holi Milan Samaroh’ on March 22 at Immersion Ghat, Polo, Shillong. A.L. Hek and Sanbor Shullai will grace the occasion. A cultural programme by artistes from Guwahati will be main attraction.
Excise raid
The Excise staff of East Khasi Hills district, shillong, have informed that during the month of February, 2016 the Excise staff detected 39 cases with a seizure of 322.250 liters of i/d liquor and 16.115 litres IMFL. In this connection, 30 persons were arrested under the Excise Act.
