Toll free number
The Director of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, has informed that a toll free number 1967 has been put in place by the Directorate to assist the citizens on issues pertaining to the public distribution system, ration cards, issues related to distribution of rice, sugar and other matters.
Workshop
The State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority, Meghalaya and the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board will jointly organise an interactive workshop on environment clearance requirements on March 26 at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong from 10 AM. All interested individuals/organisations, operators of mine, quarry, etc., and the project proponents who intend to apply for environmental clearance, are requested to avail this opportunity.
Holi festivities
ISKCON Shillong Centre is organizing a two day festival on March 23 and 24 with various activities like cultural programmes, spiritual discourses and chanting of kirtans followed by a feast on March 24. ISKCON has requested all devotees to participate in the programme.
Basanta Utsav (Holi) will be celebrated on March 24 at 9 AM at Rilbong Hindu Dharma Sabha Hall under the joint auspices of Rilbong Sports & Cultural Club and Gitanjali Dance Academy, with songs, dances and sprinkling of colours.
Phawar Star
The Treilang Welfare Society in collaboration with Meghalaya AIDS Society had organised the RED RIBBON Phawar Star 2016 on March 22 at Khasi Jaintia Assembly Conference Hall. The winners were Manbahlang Khongbuh (first), Holy Child School (second) and St. Mary’s L.P. School (third).
Dry day
Dry day has been declared in East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills districts on account of Good Friday. All bonded warehouses, IMFL shops, bars, hotels, clubs and out stills shall remain closed on March 25.
