Aizawl: Except for ten houses, all the houses in Mizoram-Myanmar border Lungphunlian hamlet, which had 78 houses were heavily damaged by massive hailstorm that hit the north eastern parts of the state on Tuesday’s evening.
Sources in the Disaster Management and Rehabilitation department said that the hails were reported to be as big as eggs, causing severe damage to the tinned roofs of the houses. No one was killed or injured in the hailstorm while squall and heavy rainfall damaged eight houses in neighbouring Tualcheng village and Hnahlan village where a number of grapevines were also damaged. Meanwhile several houses were also reported to have been ravaged by squall in south Mizoram Lunglei district’s Lungrang village on Tuesday night. (PTI)
