SHILLONG: The Centre has sanctioned Rs 9 crore for setting up of a Homeopathic hospital at Sohra. Informing this on Saturday, Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek said that the State Government would request the Central Government to sanction another Homeopathic hospital in Ri Bhoi district. “We are quite hopeful that the Centre will approve our proposal,” he said after taking part at the two-day International Convention organized on the occasion of World Homeopathy Day at New Delhi on Saturday. TURA Medical College: Hek said that the State Government is stressing on the need to expedite the process of setting up of the Tura Medical College at Balalgre/Jewilgre, 17 kilometers from Tura.According to him, a Delhi-based firm — Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd. — is preparing the necessary detailed project report.For the purpose the state government has already acquired the land and full payment has been made to the land owners who parted away with their land, the Minister said.
The proposed medical college to be constructed on the 99 acres of land will have the capacity to cater to 500 patients, besides accommodating 100 students.
