SHILLONG: Shillong police has issued an advisory to people in view of the rampant theft of Bolero Campers (pick-up trucks) due to their easy ability to start the engine without original key coupled with a huge demand in the grey market.
East Khasi Hills SP M. Kharkrang on Tuesday said owners and drivers must park their vehicles in secured places and keep their gates locked and added that vehicles should not be left parked on the roadside.
He also said that the owners should install anti-theft devices which are easily available in the market.
According to police, people should not leave registration papers and other documents inside the car after it is parked so as to facilitate the car thieves to easily get through check points.
“People should immediately inform Police Control Room on phone number 2222277 if vehicle is found missing and not to delay the information so as to be able to alert all units within and outside the State,” Kharkrang said.
