Tura by-election

SHILLONG: The Central BJP is annoyed over the rash decision of the local party units in Garo Hills in passing a resolution to contest the Tura Lok Sabha seat without consultations with central leaders, state party president and others.
The by-election to Tura Lok Sabha seat will be held on May 16.
Speaking over phone on Thursday, BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli said the announcement of the poll was just two days ago, and the BJP Central Election Committee is yet to take a decision on the matter.
Moreover, the state election committee is also yet to meet to discuss the matter.
Earlier on Wednesday, leaders of the BJP in Garo Hills had passed a resolution expressing their desire to contest the upcoming by-election.
The BJP leaders including National Council member Edmund Sangma and Billykid A. Sangma, among others from Garo Hills held the meeting with BJP MDC Bhupendra Hajong and passed the resolution to put up a candidate.
However, Kohli said whatever decision it is will be taken by the Central Election Committee.
