SHILLONG: The Polaris International Model United Nations (PIMUN 2016) began its maiden conference on Thursday at Moreau Institute of Integral training (MIIT), Dhanketi, Shillong. The youth conference will conclude on April 23. The PIMUN delegation of youths from all over India and Bangladesh arrived to take part in this conference where they debate, deliberate on issues taken up by the United Nations and pass resolutions.
The inaugural function was attended by distinguished figures like Barkos Warjri, IAS, former chief secretary; Govt. of Meghalaya was the chief guest. Other delegates present on the occasion were Binalakshmi Nepram, activist, publisher, humanitarian and founder of Manipur Gun Survivors Network who was the keynote speaker, director of Maria Montessori Sr. Sec School, Imphal, L. Gatphoh who was the guest of honour, registrar of Martin Luther Christian University, D. Ingti and chairman, Maria Montessori Sr. Sec School, Ajit Irom.
The conference is being attended by a total number of 190 delegates including delegates from Bangladesh.
