Shortage of subsidized LPG cylinders
SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) P.S. Dkhar has asserted that his office will issue a show cause notice to Longkmie Gas Agency for non performance and to seek information on the reason behind shortage of subsidized LPG cylinders in Greater Laban area of the city.
The deputy commissioner stated that he had no knowledge of whether nonpayment of arrears to Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) by the gas agency was the primary reason behind the ongoing shortage of subsidized LPG cylinders in Greater Laban area.
According to the deputy commissioner, the IOC will never allow any distributor to lift the stock until and unless payments are cleared by the concerned agency.
Meanwhile, in charge of Longkmie Gas Agency, Anita Gurung, denied that the agency had any outstanding payment to be made to the IOC.
“We have recently made payment of around 9 lakh,” she said, while adding that they have already lifted LPG stocks from the IOC.
She stated that the gas agency has to cater to around 7400 consumers and there was shortage in supply of LPG from the North Guwahati plant itself in view of the Bihu celebrations and the Assam elections.
It may be reminded that sources had recently claimed that Longkmie Gas Agency has defaulted on payment of its dues to the IOC which in turn had stalled supplies.
