TURA: GHADC CEM Denang T Sangma has denied the allegations levelled by the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) that district council fund  has been diverted for the upcoming by-election to Tura Lok Sabha seat.
The Congress had claimed that an amount of Rs 2.5 crore for payment of the Council employees which was released recently by the State Government was being diverted. The CEM, Denang T Sangma  said that  whatever money is being used is being done so for the daily maintenance of the Council.
Sangma further added that the council coffers were completely empty due to the withdrawal of several crores of rupees by the last Congress led executive committee before the GHADC elections resulting in an empty treasury. He however, confirmed the recent release of an amount of Rs 2.5 crore by the State Government but said that the amount was not enough to pay the salaries of the employees as the total amount even for the payment of one month’s employees’ salaries would come around to Rs 4 crore.
